SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 5, 2025) – Addressing putting up visitors in residential areas will be discussed by the Saugatuck City Council on Wednesday.
No decisions will be made during the 4 PM study session, but matters brought up may be considered further during next Monday’s biweekly business meeting. One is adjusting the city’s Bed and Breakfast rules to allow owners to have guests stay in accessory buildings as well as in the main housing structure. Two such requests made this past December prompted the Saugatuck Planning Commission to recommend this ordinance amendment proposal.
Another topic for discussion will be a report, compiled by City Manager Ryan Cummins and Director of Planning and Zoning Luke Thompson, on the implementation of new Short-Term Rental regulations, including the lottery system for licenses, enforcing code regulations, and a toll free hotline for those wishing to report violations and complaints.
The Saugatuck City Council study session is in the second floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
