Sharon Blanksma, age 87, of Holland, passed to God’s glory on Monday, February 10, 2025.
Sharon was a graduate of the 1955 class at Ottawa Hills High School. She furthered her schooling at Butterworth School of Nursing and Brigham Young University where she completed her degree as a Nurse Practitioner. Sharon served as a nurse in many different capacities such as a camp nurse at Camp Blodgett, many years at Hope College as the Director of the Student Health Clinic and lastly spending 11 years running a mission clinic in Alale, Kenya.
Sharon, together with her husband, Emery, traveled extensively with their family, friends and the church youth groups. She was a long time member of Fellowship Church and took pride in being an Elder and Youth Group Leader. Her life was dedicated to mission work which was shown through her work and private life.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Emery, in 2021; brother, James TenElshof; parents, Francis and Ardith TenElshof; father and mother-in-law, Emery and Lottie Blanksma; and in-laws, Robert and Thelma Blanksma, Henry and Angie Blanksma, David and Sue Krebs, and Walter and Susan Blanksma.
Sharon is survived by her children, Laurie (Charlie) Snedeker, Michael Blanksma, and Julie (Keith) Sauter; grandchildren, Samuel Snedeker (fiance Jenna Fulton), Leigh Ann Snedeker, Alexandra (Richard) Rogalla, and Zachary (Stephanie) Sauter; great grandchildren, Jackson Rogalla and Max Rogalla; sister, June (Michael) VanderVeen, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Fellowship Reformed Church, 2165 West Lakewood Blvd, Holland, with Rev. James Baar officiating. A time of visitation and fellowship will follow the service.
