WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Internal Revenue Service Chief Operating Officer Melanie Krause will become acting IRS commissioner after the retirement of the agency’s current acting head, Doug O’Donnell, the Treasury Department said on Tuesday.
O’Donnell, the IRS deputy commissioner who has been serving as acting commissioner since January, plans to retire on Friday, U.S. Treasury chief Scott Bessent said.
