HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 21, 2025) – After it had been a “ladies only” domain for years, a man has won the Tulip Time Festival poster contest for the second straight year.
On Thursday night, organizers of Holland’s annual signature event announced that “Blooms on Parade,” a watercolor and pencil creation by Andrew Snyder, was selected as the official image of the festival. The artwork features his perception of tulip beds as they greet the morning sun, spotlighting the multi-colored pink and white Triumph Tulip.
A graduate of Western Michigan University, Snyder has lived in Holland for nearly 35 years, and has creations in paintings, ceramics and glass. This was his first submission in the annual contest to determine the official symbol for Holland’s signature event, and he follows in the footsteps of John Cowden, who won the 2024 poster contest with his “Dutch Delivery” artwork.
“We are thrilled with Andrew’s piece. It’s been a five years since we’ve had a more traditional style of tulip poster grace our walls.” – Tulip Time Festival Executive Director Gwen Auwerda
The festival will start selling copies of “Blooms on Parade,’ as well as merchandise adorning that image, through its office (42 W. 8th St.) and online. The other 19 finalists will now be put into a viewers choice competition in which attendees can vote for their favorite through the festival’s 96th annual run from May 2nd through the 11th.
