Wayne Vandenbrink, age 83, was called home to our Lord on February 9, 2025. Wayne was born on March 15, 1941 in Holland to Edward and Louise Vandenbrink, who preceded him in death. Wayne graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in mechanical engineering and worked at Donnelly Corporation for most of his professional career where he had several patents in his name. Outside of work Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman, going on dozens of trips over his lifetime where he experienced nature as God intended and saw so many majestic animals in their natural habitat. He loved nothing better than sharing the pictures and stories that accompanied them with friends and family. Wayne was also a skilled woodworker and craftsman and enjoyed making one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture. He spent a great deal of time creating in his workshop and shared his gift with not only his children and grandchildren but also with children from his lifelong church Calvin CRC (now the Foundation Church).
He was preceded in death by his brother Dale and Marian Vandenbrink; brother-in-law David Osterhaven; and his beloved wife of 56 years, Karen. He is survived by his son Terry and Kelly Vandenbrink; daughter Lisa and Jim Speelman; grandchildren Katie Vandenbrink; Nick Vandenbrink; Ethan Speelman; Carter Speelman; Aleah Speelman; great granddaughter Genevieve; brother Don and Joy Vandenbrink; and sister Jean Osterhaven.
A funeral will be held Friday February 21, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Lakeshore Memorial, 11939 James St., in Holland. The family will greet visitors starting at 11:00 am. For memorials, please consider Hospice of Holland.
