LAKETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 16, 2025) – Some fresh equipment is on its way to a Lakeshore fire department.
On Friday, Graafschap Fire Department Chief Doug DenBleyker sent a letter to his department’s fire board, as well as both the Laketown and Fillmore township offices, announcing a $14,500-plus grant from the Auto Club Group Foundation to pay for a new Hurst Edraulic Combi Tool. Modeled after the “Jaws of Life” device, well-known to extricate trapped motorists from vehicles, this tool is designed to replace a set of older tools that have been in use for more than four decades.
In acquiring this tool now, Chief DenBleyker says that it would give his crews time to train before it is installed on a new department truck, currently in storage at the department’s fire station off of 60th Street, which should be put into service later this year.
