She was a member of Redeemer PCA in Holland, where she served in a variety of ways to both young and old alike. An organization that was dear to her heart was the Evergreen Day Center, both as a volunteer and a participant.
She was greatly loved and will be missed by friends and family alike. Ila was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas A. Yonker, a daughter, Yvonne Populis, and a brother, Roger Baas.
She is survived by four children and their families: Calvin (Linda) Yonker, Valerie (Keith) Reynolds, Craig (Velva) Yonker, Sharon (Todd) Nanninga and son-in-law William “Billy” Populis. Ila was blessed with a total of 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren plus 2 more on the way. Ila is also survived by two sisters: Karen (Jim) Vanden Bos, Linda Haven, and in-laws, Carol (Carl) Van Dyke, Linda Cook-Toren, Don Baker, and Pete (Bette) Yonker.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14, at 11:00 AM at Central Avenue CRC, 259 Central Ave. in Holland with Rev. Chip Byrd officiating. A private burial will take place at Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, February 13 from 4-7 PM at Langeland- Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland.
