
Hope College forward Parker Hovey has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week.
The sophomore from Shelby, Michigan (Hart HS) receives the honor for the first time in his career.
Hovey led the Flying Dutchmen to a 2-0 record last week, including a 79-71 victory against seventh-ranked Trine University on Wednesday at DeVos Fieldhouse.
Against Trine, Hovey registered career-highs with 21 points and 11 rebounds. It was Hovey’s first double-double of the season. Hovey also recorded three steals and two assists against the Thunder.
On Saturday, Hovey followed up with 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals during a 78-67 victory against Kalamazoo College at DeVos Fieldhouse.
Hovey shot 60% from the field for the week (12-20), including 71.1% from 3-point range (5-7). Hovey also finished 90% from the foul line (9-10) over two games.
