LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 10, 2025) – An Allegan-based eye doctor may soon be part of overseeing those who are responsible for the vision of residents statewide.
Pending the approval by fellow Democrats who hold the majority in the state Senate, Governor Whitmer on Monday tabbed Dr. Paul Hodge of Allegan Eyecare PC to fill a vacancy on the Michigan Board of Optometry. The Ferris State University graduate is a fellow with the American Academy of Optometry and a board trustee with the Michigan Optometric Society.
Dr. Hodge would replace the departing Lisa Webb Sharpe, a Lansing Community College Foundation executive with no apparent background in optometry, on the panel to license optometrists in Michigan, along with holding disciplinary powers over those eye doctors, through the middle of 2027.
