Robert “Bob” Kenneth Hunt, 66, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Born on December 15, 1958, Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who lived a simple, yet profoundly meaningful life centered on his family, the outdoors, and the joy he brought to others.
Robert spent a long and dedicated career at Donnelly, where he worked hard and retired after many years of service. A true outdoorsman, he found his greatest happiness in hunting, fishing, and in the woods. Deer Camp was his favorite retreat—a place where laughter echoed, stories were told, and memories were made with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends who became like family.
He will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his endless teasing, and the nicknames he lovingly bestowed upon many people close to him. His jokes and playful jabs were a sign of affection, and anyone who earned his teasing knew they held a special place in his heart.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Heather Hunt; his stepmother, Sherry Hunt; his children: Amanda Lawson (Brian Cogswell), Robert Chadwick, Daniel (Amanda) Hunt, Sarah (Jason) Louks, and Samantha Hunt; he was a proud grandfather to: Corbin Blink, Ethan Holden, and Cast Cogswell; he is also survived by his siblings: Cheryl (Mike) Tague, Connie Palmer, Ron Hunt, Diane McBurnett, Donna McBurnett (Greg) Schuitema, Darlene McBurnett, Deb McBurnett, Denise McBurnett (Rod Wilmoth), Missy Davis, Tara (Roy) Warren; In addition, he leaves behind several nieces and nephews who cherished their Uncle Bob and his larger-than-life presence.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Beryl D. Hunt and Robert W. Hunt and Rosemary McBurnett,
A man who lived simply but loved deeply, Robert’s legacy is one of humor, adventure, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He leaves behind countless cherished memories of hunting trips, nicknames, laughter, and the unmistakable warmth of his love.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 am at Dykstra Funeral Homes-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Rev. Jody Betten will be officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Saugatuck.
Visitation will be from 10:00 -10:45 am prior to the service at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital in his honor.
