ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 7, 2025) – It’s another clean bill of health for how elections are run in Allegan County.
Clerk Bob Genetski’s office disclosed on Thursday that a state-mandated hand count of a total of nearly 22 hundred votes on paper ballots for precincts in four randomly selected communities – Fennville, Saugatuck, Wayland and Laketown Township – found that the numbers posted following the General Election on November 5th were exactly the same as the ones tabulated in this audit. Two years ago, a similar hand count of over 14,000 ballots called for by state and local recounts, along with the required audit, found just one error, coming from an elector that didn’t shade the selection oval dark enough for the Dominion machines that the county uses to count that vote.
“I am extremely proud of the proficiency shown by our local clerks and election inspectors throughout Allegan County. Their hard work, dedication and professionalism helped 72,435 voters cast a ballot, and the accuracy of the hand counts validates their efforts.” -Allegan County Clerk Bob Genetski
Random voting audits of all 83 counties are called for after every statewide General Election.
