ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 26, 2025) – A 19-year-old Casnovia man is expected to recover from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle crash north of Allendale during the overnight hours on Sunday morning.
A name was not disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Shane Ryke as he and other first responders were dispatched to the area of 60th Avenue near Lincoln Street shortly after 3 AM. That was where the man’s SUV had crashed into a tree, near where 60th dead ends just south of the Grand River, and it was an automatic notification from his smart phone that alerted dispatchers to the situation.
It appeared that the motorist had thought he was on 68th Avenue, which does go over the river. He was unresponsive when rescuers extricated him from his vehicle, and he was taken to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
