HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 24, 2025) – A suspect has been identified, but apparently still on the loose, stemming from a smash-and-grab robbery of trading cards from a Holland retailer more than two months ago.
Around 9:50 PM on November 10th, officers responded to a report of a broken-out window on the front door of the the Super Hideaway Gaming Store off of South Washington Avenue. A person or persons involved had taken undisclosed items, as confirmed by the owner of the store who was called in on the matter.

Images from video cameras at a nearby store in the same plaza showed a suspect vehicle, believed to be a mid-2000’s Ford Focus, pulling away from the scene. Investigators are looking into possible connections with similar burglaries committed at other establishments in the region.
About a fortnight later, Department of Public Safety Captain of Administrative Services Bob Buursma disclosed the following statement:
“Holland Detectives were able to identify a possible suspect in this case, and from that, located a vehicle matching the vehicle observed in the surveillance footage on the date of the burglary. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, and during the search many of the stolen cards from the Super Hideaway store burglary were located. Holland Detectives are continuing to investigate and plan to submit the report to the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office requesting charges for the suspect in the near future.” – Bob Burrsma
On Friday, January 24th, Buursma added the following:
“A warrant was recently issued for Eric Joseph Cody, a 39-year-old man from Grand Rapids, for a single count of Burglary – Forced Entry. Detectives have been attempting to locate Mr. Cody but have been unsuccessful.” – Bob Buursma
