Marilyn graduated from Coopersville High School in 1953. After starting a family with her loving husband Gordon Meeuwsen, Marilyn worked for West Ottawa food service for 25 years until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing tie quilts and baking pies for her family. In addition, Marilyn was a longtime member of Ottawa Reformed Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years Gordon Meeuwsen; parents Ezra and Iva Leona DeMott; brothers Jim, Robert, John, Eugene, and Marvin DeMott; as well as sister Veta Kenyon.
Marilyn is survived by sons Gregory (Diana) Meeuwsen and Douglas (Maria) Meeuwsen; and daughter Nancy Meeuwsen; grandchildren Aila Meeuwsen, Marcella (Tim) Nocon, and Mario (Arielle) Rodriguez; great-grandson Lucas Nocon; honorary grandchildren Catalina Perez, Andrew Ball, and Sawyer Ball; as well as sister Joyce DeMott and sisters-in-law Norma (Ron) DeVries and Joan Meeuwsen.
A visitation for Marilyn will be held on Thursday, January 23 from 4-7 PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services – 11939 James St. Holland, MI 49424. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 24 at Ottawa Reformed Church – 11390 Stanton St. West Olive, MI 49460. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Private burial will take place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Ottawa Reformed Church Kid’s Hope or the Ottawa Reformed Church Youth Group.
