HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 23, 2025) – As what was supposed to be a two-day weekend for some, and perhaps a three-day weekend for others, due to the Martin Luther King Junior legal holiday, stretches into a six-day weekend for students along the Lakeshore, the price to pay for having this unscheduled “winter break” may be a delay in the start of summer vacation.
By state law, K-12 school districts, both public and private, must hold 180 days of instruction every academic year, with only six “snow days” allowed before any further cancellations must be made up. Holland Public Schools spokesman Jason Craner explained.
Weather conditions are expected to improve tomorrow. A list of area closings and cancellations is available here.
