ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 6, 2025) – It should be a busy start to the New Year for the Zeeland City Council on Monday night.
The work-study session, held prior to the biweekly business meeting, starts a half-hour earlier. Among the items to be discussed during the 90-minute session but not voted on: An update on updating the city’s fiberoptic network; study reports on municipal facility utilization and school traffic patterns; establishing on-street bike lanes; and a concept for a proposed “Hoogland Plaza” just north of the splash pad to honor the late Mayor Les Hoogland, who passed away last year.
During the business meeting, a public hearing will be held on a downtown maintenance special assessment, along with a proposal to award a contract for studying the city’s financial sustainability, and adopting a standard plans for construction policy for streets, sidewalks and other public projects.
The work-study session begins at 5:30 PM, with the business meeting an hour and a half later, both at Zeeland City Hall (21 S. Elm. St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
