HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 6, 2025) – Two teens from Saginaw are in the Ottawa County Jail following Monday arrests on charges stemming from allegedly rifling through parked vehicles on Holland’s North Side.
No names were immediately disclosed following the early morning incident in the area of Riley Street and 136th Avenue. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 3 AM on a report of two persons seen going through vehicles in a parking lot, and the suspects attempted to flee on foot when a prowl car arrived at the scene.
One of the two 18-year-olds was apprehended almost immediately, while the other fled into a nearby residence before being captured without further incident. They were being held on preliminary charges of larceny and resisting & obstructing, pending arraignment in 58th District Court.
Sheriff’s Detective Sergeant Allison Anderson said in a department statement, “The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has seen an increase in stolen vehicles and car larcenies. We want to remind the public to protect your belongings, remember to remove valuables from your vehicle, and always lock your vehicles.”
It was not immediately disclosed whether these two suspects are or were involved in those incidents Anderson alluded to, as this matter remains under investigation.
