SPENCER TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 1, 2025) – A 26-year-old Holland woman was apparently an unwitting motorist involved in a fatal Tuesday night crash in northern Kent County that led to the death of a 15-year-old Grand Rapids boy.
No names were disclosed by the Sheriff’s office stemming from the 7:40 PM incident at the intersection of Lincoln Lake Avenue and 17 Mile Road. Deputies say that a 16-year-old boy from Gowen was driving northbound when he attempted to make a U-turn at that junction, and the Holland woman driving behind couldn’t avoid colliding with the teen’s vehicle.
The Grand Rapids boy was taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries sustain in the crash. The Gowen teen, along with a 17-year-old Grand Rapids youth who was also in his vehicle, as well as the Holland woman, were not hurt.
The incident remains under investigation.
