OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 30, 2024) – It’s the last day on the force for Steve Kempker.
After 44 years in law enforcement, the past 35 in the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, including two four-year terms as Sheriff, Kempker officially retires on Tuesday, confident that things are in good hands with Eric DeBoer replacing him.
DeBoer beat out Jon Anderson in last August’s GOP primary election, and ran unopposed in the November 5th General Election to become the new Sheriff.
Kempker plans on spending more time with family and “following other areas of interest within Ottawa County,” although he has not announced any specific plans.
