SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 17, 2024) – As an era ends at Saugatuck Public Schools, the line of succession is kicking in.
On Tuesday, the district announced that Melanie Moorer was named interim principal of Saugatuck Middle-High School. A mathematics teacher in four states over a 25-year educational career, including a stint at SHS, she replaces Mark Neidlinger, who becomes the district’s new superintendent at year’s end, taking over for the retiring Dr. Tim Travis.
This route from principal to superintendent has been well-traveled recently at Saugatuck, as Travis himself was promoted in a similar way six years ago upon the departure of Rolfe Timmerman.
The district made no mention of any timeline for a determination of a permanent principal.
