HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 10, 2024) – Five months from the start of Holland’s annual signature event comes the call to “join the dance.”
On Monday, Tulip Time Festival officials announced that those from third grade through adulthood are encourage to step up and join the Dutch Dance program. An integral part of the celebration of traditional Dutch customs for nine decades, over 800 local residents, decked in authentic-looking costumes and promenading in wooden shoes, have delighted locals and visitors alike with presentations in Centennial Park and along 8th Street.
While past experience is helpful, festival officials stress that it’s not essential, and those who have never donned the Klompen are welcome. Jenn Ryckbost is the festival’s Dutch Dance Program Director.
Registration is ongoing through the Tulip Time Festival website, with an online link here, and practices begin in January. The 96th renewal of the festival is from May 2nd through the 11th.
