HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 10, 2024) – A fatal accident shuts down US 31 in Holland Tuesday morning. The Ottawa County sheriff’s office was dispatched just before 5:30am to an injury accident at US 31/James in Holland Twp. Reports were of a semi vs pedestrian crash.
Investigation shows that a 47 year old Holland Twp man was crossing US31 from East to West. He was struck by a semi truck that was SB on US31. The light was green for the Southbound traffic, and the pedestrian was crossing against the light.
The pedestrian’s injuries were fatal, and the occupants of the truck were not injured. The intersection was closed for a couple hours during the investigation, and cleanup of the crash. The crash does remain under investigation. The name will not be released at this time pending notification of the family.
