Clara Ten Harmsel, age 89, of Zeeland, passed away Tuesday, November 19 at Quincy Place in Holland.
After emigrating to America at the age of 12, Clara began working in the banking industry as a young adult, eventually retiring from Huntington Bank. Clara and her husband, Harvey, worked hard to ensure all of their kids had a christian education. When not working, Clara loved being involved in her community. She was a charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Zeeland and served as the church secretary for many years. She enjoyed knitting for her family and also for countless charities. Clara was known for giving a hand-knit pair of socks to anyone needing comfort. She loved traveling with Harvey; whether it was a month in Florida or throughout the country for TPA’s annual conventions.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey TenHarmsel, in 2011, and siblings Jert Jellema, Tina Koetje, and Alice Genzink.
