UNDATED, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 10, 2024) – Veterans Day is on Monday, and there are three events slated for public participation along the Lakeshore to honor those who have and are serving this country.
The first is at 8 AM, where veterans can join students, teachers and staff at Saugatuck High School (401 Elizabeth St.) for a breakfast and fellowship. At 11 AM, director Andrew Holtz will lead the Saugatuck High Marching Band in a tribute performance at the Veterans Memorial area off of Main and Butler streets downtown.
At 10:05 AM, Holland High School (600 Van Raalte Ave.) will hold its 87th Veterans Day program, with author and US Marine veteran Robert Heath Sr. as the featured speaker. A lunch for veterans and their families will be held afterwards. Coverage of the program will air on 99 7/1450 WHTC.
At 11 AM, there will be a commemoration and rededication of the Union Soldier Monument at the Allegan County Courthouse Square in Allegan. 48th Circuit Court Chief Justice Matt Antkoviak will deliver the keynote address, with light refreshments afterwards.
At 7 PM in First United Methodist Church (57 W. 10th Street), the Holland American Legion Band will perform a free concert to honor veterans.
