GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 2, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash west of Jenison late on Friday night hospitalized two women.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Nicholas Knott gave few details as to the identities of the motorists, or where they were taken for treatment, following the collision around 10 PM at the intersection of 36th Avenue and Baldwin Street. It appears that a 22-year-old Hudsonville woman was driving a SUV north on a green light when a southbound Jeep turned in front of her.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles by rescue workers, and Knott did disclose that neither driver suffered life-threatening injuries. The intersection has seen its share of injury crashes over the past year due to increased traffic volumes in the area, which compelled the Ottawa County Road Commission to install left-turn signals in all four directions earlier this summer.
The incident remains under investigation.
