She grew up in South Holland, Illinois and attended Dordt College attaining her Associates Degree. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for many years for several different businesses.
Janet loved sailing, golfing, and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Van Der Aa.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Tom Dawkins of Zeeland; siblings, Doug and Mary Van Der Aa of Byron Center, Pat and Dale Gort of Holland; nieces and nephews, Carolyn, Andrew, Will, Taylor, Alden; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2024 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland with Rev. Kenneth E. Klett officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Covenant Presbyterian Church. www.langelandsterenberg.com.
