GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 30, 2024) – More information has been forthcoming surrounding the deaths of an elderly couple in their home south of Grand Haven on Saturday morning.
On Monday, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Investigative Captain Jake Sparks announced that it was an 80-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman that were found at the residence off of 178th Avenue near Comstock Street. Deputies had been called to the scene on a request to check on the well being of the two persons, and that dispatchers heard a gunshot during the call.
When there was no response from inside when deputies arrived, the department’s Critical Response Team was deployed and was able to enter the dwelling, finding the two persons dead with gunshot wounds. Sparks said that investigators believe at this point that this was a murder-suicide case, but that more information is needed until the case could be considered closed.
No names of the couple were disclosed. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
