ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 23, 2024) – More details have been disclosed involving a fatal late-night collision between a bicyclist and a motorist near Pullman last Thursday.
No names or any descriptions were initially given by Allegan County Sheriff’s Sergeant Blair Kacos following the incident on 111th Avenue near 54th Street around 10:00 p.m. Deputies believe that the motor vehicle was eastbound when it struck the bicyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver was taken into custody, as alcohol and speed were believed to be factors in the collision.
On Monday, the department disclosed that Joel Rojas-Chanito was arraigned on a count of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death, and the cyclist was identified as 50-year-old Tracey Lynn Decker.
The case remains under investigation.
