Hope College’s Jackson Mindling and Amanda Lopykinski have been selected as MIAA Athletes of the Week.
Mindling (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian HS) is the MIAA Men’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
Lopykinski (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township) is the MIAA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the fifth time in her career.
Mindling assisted the Flying Dutchmen to a 3-0 record last week by totaling four goals and one assist during 167 minutes of action.
The freshman notched the game-winning goal during a 4-0 victory at Eureka College (Illinois) on Saturday, scored the tying goal during a 2-1 victory at Concordia University of Chicago on Friday and collected two goals and one assist during a 5-0 victory at home vs. Benedictine University (Illinois).
Lopykinski placed third in the Women’s A Singles Draw of the Hope College Tennis Fall Invitational over the weekend with a 3-1 overall singles record.
The junior’s wins were against Aquinas’s Carlota Arzabe (8-4), Adrian’s Hye Jin Elliot (8-3) and a first-round default.
Lopykinski also won the Women’s A Doubles Draw Championship with partner Sullivan Moran. The duo’s unblemished 4-0 overall doubles record included wins against Trine (6-0), Calvin (6-2), Kalamazoo (6-1), and Ohio Northern (6-2).
