PORT SHELDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 11, 2024) – Charges are pending for a 60-year-old Muskegon man who allegedly used a fender-bender between Holland and Grand Haven on Sunday evening to grope a 24-year-old Grand Haven woman.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Investigative Captain Jake Sparks, the incident began before 8 PM in the area of US-31 and Stanton Street. The victim was driving a silver Jeep southbound when her vehicle was hit by the suspect’s silver Ford Edge near US-31 and Lake Michigan Drive (M-45). She continued a short distance, with the suspect driving behind her, until they reached the parking lot of a convenience store/fueling station off of Stanton Street, when the victim stopped her vehicle, thinking that the man wanted to file a police report.
After both motorists stepped out of their vehicle, the suspect attacked the victim, “touching her inappropriately,” according to Sparks. She was able to fend off the assault, and while she called 911, the suspect drove off and was apprehended in Muskegon on Monday. The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The suspect was already on parole and will be facing charges stemming from this incident. The case remains open, and anyone who may have witnessed this matter, or may have had a similar situation with this suspect, is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department (616-738-4000), or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
