HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 16, 2024) – Earlier today, at about 1:30 a.m., an officer of the Holland Department of Public Safety was travelling south on Hastings Ave. and observed a north bound vehicle, which the officer noted did not appear to have a license plate on the back of the vehicle. The officer began to turn around at which point the suspect vehicle accelerated rapidly and then turned west bound onto 24th St.
By the time the officer was able to turn around and onto 24th St the suspect vehicle was already a significant distance west of the intersection. With in a short period of time the officer lost sight of the vehicle.
Officers began checking the area to re-locate the vehicle when a 911 call was received about a vehicle which had crashed into a house in the 500 Block of Central.
Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle, unoccupied, the suspect having apparently fled the scene on foot. There was damage to the lawn and the house. No one was injured in the home.
The incident remains under investigation.
