CHESTER TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 5, 2024) – Could there be an alligator in Crockery Lake?
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, the state Department of Natural Resources, and the Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Department aren’t apparently taking any chances. On Sunday, authorities were notified of an unconfirmed report of an alligator from residents near the lake east of Ravenna, in Ottawa County’s far northeast corner.
Throughout Monday, deputies and conservation officers searched the body of water by boat and saw no trace of any large reptile. The parks department then issued this statement: “Based on this information, please use whatever caution you feel is appropriate related to swimming and boating in the lake.”
The state DNR is taking over the investigation into this matter, and anyone with any further information should contact that agency.
