Dena Spykman, age 99 of Zeeland passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Friday, June 28, 2024.
She is survived by her daughters: Ingrid and Joe Bernal, Louise and Tom Van De Burg, Marjorie and Terry Nieboer, and Elayn and Paul Marcus; 15 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; her sisters: Corry Zwart, Christina and Martin Veenstra, and Louise Van Loo; and her brother-in-law Carl and Carol Van Dyke.
She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1976. Dena was a member of Drenthe Christian Reformed Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid Society. Dena was a seamstress at Herman Miller where she worked for many years.
Dena’s family was her greatest joy, she loved serving them and spending time with them. She lived her life fully for her Lord and Savior. Dena was an excellent seamstress, knitter and crocheter. Dena was an independent woman, and enjoyed traveling to her birth country, the Netherlands. Dena’s “green thumb” produced bountiful gardens and beautiful flowers.
Visitation will be 9:30-10:45 am with the funeral service to follow at 11 am on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Drenthe Christian Reformed Church, 6344 Adams Street, Zeeland. Interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Camp Michawana.
