SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 10, 2024) – A scourge in Kalamazoo Lake and Kalamazoo Harbor near the mouth of the Kalamazoo River is the focus of a treatment program this summer.
The city of Saugatuck has retained Aquatic Doctors to treat the area on Tuesday, weather conditions permitting. Residents and visitors are asked to notice and follow the instructions on the 14″x11” yellow signs that will indicate the date, chemicals used, and use restrictions for swimming, lawn watering, and fish consumption.
It’s to combat the Eurasian Water Milfoil, according to Saugatuck City Manager Ryan Cummins.
A second treatment session is planned for July 16th.
