Clare Haveman, 74, of Zeeland, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Holland Hospital.
Clare was born January 1, 1950, in Zeeland, Michigan, the third child of Marvin and Florence (Holstege) Haveman. He graduated from Holland Christian High School, attended Grand Rapids Community College and started his career at Brooks Beverage. Clare worked in production management for 40 years before his retirement. Even in retirement Clare worked. He launched Memory Maker Video, and worked part-time at Gentex and Gemmens. Clare enjoyed working on audio recordings, and playing with home theater electronics. Clare loved his little yorkies, Spartie & Zoie. Clare was also an avid MSU fan. Clare was a lifelong member of First Protestant Reformed Church of Holland. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Cal Yonker and Shara’s father Jun Klynstra.
He is survived by his longtime companion Shara Klynstra, his son Wes & Shemi Haveman of Farmington Hills, grandsons: Weston and Caleb; siblings: Wilma and Brent Overway, Les and Joyce Haveman, Eunice Yonker, Marlene and Doug Haan, Donna and Deane Wassink, John Haveman; Shara’s family: mother Elte Klynstra, her sisters: Shelley and Doug Postema, Sandy and Marinus DeBruine; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, Thursday, also at Yntema’s. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Clare’s honor to the charity of one’s choice.
