GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 24, 2024) โ Three persons were hospitalized and one person attempted to flee the scene of a two-vehicle crash south of Grand Haven in the overnight hours of Friday morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriffโs Sergeant Shane Ryke, a sedan southbound on US-31 around 12 midnight collided with a minivan that had stopped for a flashing red light on Hayes Street and proceeded forward into the sedanโs path. First responders were able to get to the scene quickly, and a 26-year-old Twin Lake man driving the sedan attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was apprehended after a short pursuit. He, along with a 25-year-old Muskegon man in his vehicle, and an 18-year-old Muskegon woman in the minivan, were taken to Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, while an 18-year-old Grand Haven man driving the minivan was not hurt.
The intersection was closed for about an hour, as the crash remains under investigation.
