HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 24, 2024) – After around 53 years, Holland’s east side now has a new fire station to handle its emergency needs.
Department of Public Safety Fire Operations crews spent much of Friday moving apparatus and equipment from its long-time site off of Waverly Road and East 32nd Avenue to a new $12.5 million Waverly Fire Station a short distance away. It took about 18 months for the 21,000-square foot facility with five bays to be built. It will also have multiple training areas, and high-end finishes will create a “at home” feeling for full- and part-time members that will staff the station round-the-clock.
The former two-bay Waverly Fire Station, which was the oldest of three in Holland, will soon be torn down to make way for a parking lot.
