JAMESTOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 20, 2024) – A purported multi-state crime ring was busted last Friday, with two Fort Wayne men in the Ottawa County Jail facing multiple felony counts as a result.
According to Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, the case began early this month, when a Jamestown Township man purchased two high-end pontoon boats from the suspects in an online transaction. It was determined that the vessels had been stolen from locations in Kentucky and Indiana, and further investigation by sheriff’s detectives revealed more purloined craft were being sent north for sale last Friday. Deputies and detectives with the county’s critical response team descended on an undisclosed location and apprehended the suspects, along with seizing two boats. In all, four vessels, along with trailers and motors, were recovered at an estimated value of over $370,000.
While the crafts and their accessories were on their way back to the dealerships from whence they were taken, 42-year-old Lance Holland and 29-year-old Ceandra Jackson were arraigned on Monday in Grand Haven District Court, with Judge Craig Bunce ordering them held on $150,000 and $100,000 bond, respectively.
Sparks added that the case remains open, and anyone with any further information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
