HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 17, 2024) – Last Saturday, the National Association of Letter Carriers conducted its annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food collection drive for non-profits across the country in all but two postal codes.
Those codes are 49423 and 49424, serviced by the US Postal Service office off of East 8th Street in Holland. Due to the Tulip Time Festival, this charitable effort, in which residents are businesses are asked to fill specially marked bags with non-perishable food items and leave them at their mailboxes for carriers to normally pick up on the second Saturday in May, is pushed back a week to the third Saturday.
One of the four local charities who will be the recipients of what is collected is Gateway Mission, led by Executive Director Jay Riemersma.
The other non-profits benefiting from Stamp Out Hunger locally are Community Action House, Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence, and the Holland branch of the Salvation Army.
