HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 13, 2024) – The 95th Tulip Time Festival is now in the history books.
Ten days of events and attractions ended on Sunday with the Tulip Immersion Garden, Historic Walking Tours, and the Carnival. Although the star of the show – the tulip – blossomed early this spring, with the best colors coming during the opening weekend of the festival, there were still enough flowers in bloom at various venues to delight visitors and locals alike throughout the run of Holland’s annual signature event.
The VIP Tours and the Dutch Lunch at Evergreen Commons were sold out throughout the festival’s run, while the production of On Golden Pond at the Holland Community Theatre for its last four days, along with the May 4th Dancing Queen ABBA Tribute concert at the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place had no tickets available. Thousands flocked to line the Kinderparade and Volksparade routes on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
Former Holland Mayor Al McGeehan used to say that the state’s spring and summer tourism season begins at the corner of East 8th Street and Columbia Avenue, the starting point for the Tulip Time parades, and Nick Nerbonne of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Pure Michigan travel program concurs.
Audio PlayerFestival officials will disclose attendance figures in its recap of 2024 Tulip Time later this summer.
