HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 10, 2024) – While there are a few attractions that will be on tap for Mother’s Day, the 95th Tulip Time Festival winds down in earnest on Saturday.
The eighth day of Holland’s annual signature event begins with the Tulip Immersion Garden at Beechwood Church, followed by Historic Walking Tours from Window on the Waterfront Park, Tall Ship Dockside Tours from the Michigan Maritime Museum’s Friends Good Will vessel docked in Lake Macatawa off of Boatworks Restaurant; the Tulip Time Quilt Show in the Midtown Center; and the Carnival off of the Eighth Street Marketplace.
Saturday is spotlighted by two featured events. The Quality Car Wash Volksparade, the longest parade by distance in Michigan, steps off from the corner of East 8th Street and Columbia Avenue downtown at 2 PM, and makes its way west and south to the Holland High School campus off of Van Raalte Street, an over two-mile trek by foot. Coverage with Dan Evans and Bryan Spencer begins at 1:30 PM on 99 7/1450 WHTC. There will be Dutch Dancing on 8th Street before and after the parade.
The other event is the Tulip Time Fireworks in partnership with Latin Americans United for Progress, with festivities beginning in Kollen Park at 5:30 PM, and the explosives lighting up the sky above Lake Macatawa at dusk.
Sold out activities include the VIP Tours from Beechwood Church, and the evening performance of On Golden Pond at the Holland Community Theatre.
Sunday has the Historic Walking Tours, the Quilt Show, the Immersion Garden, the Carnival, and the sold-out VIP Tours slated.
