Ellen Margene (Hulst) Meyer, 68, beloved wife of David Meyer, passed from the loving arms of her family to the loving arms of Jesus on February 11, 2024. Her family rejoices that after lengthy illness, she has been made perfectly whole, now singing and dancing before the Lord.
Ellen was born to Harold and Marjorie Hulst on April 18, 1955, in Zeeland, Michigan. She became a Registered Nurse in 1980, and married David Meyer on June 14 of that same year. They made their homes in five different states over the course of David’s medical career as a practicing OB/GYN physician. Most recently they moved to Rockford, Michigan, to be near family.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gary.
She is survived by her husband David, sons Corrin (Lisa), Zachary (Sarah), Daniel(Erin Beddows); grandchildren Joshua, Nathaniel, Lydia, Eli, Corabelle, andJosie Meyer, Amelia and Jürgen Beddows; sisters Mary (Terry) Genzink, Lila (Edgar) Veinbergs, sisters-in-law Beverly Hulst, Anna Mae (Peter) Bush, Ruth (Richard) Huisman, Betty (Chris) Kacos, and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Known for her million-watt smile, Ellen was compassionate, generous, a devoted wife and mother, a gifted artist, a quilter as well as a dog lover.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 700 Ethel Ave. SE, Grand Rapids. The memorial service will be followed by a fellowship meal in the church hall. Service arrangements have been made through the Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home in Holland, Michigan.
