LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 13, 2024) – Two high schools from the Lakeshore are in line for honors in preparing students for high-wage, high-demand STEM careers.
On Monday, the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity announced 40 winners in the College Board’s AP Computer Science Female Diversity program. Formed in a partnership with Grand Valley State University and Code.org, an education innovation nonprofit group, the MiSTEM Network aims to engage more female students in computer science coursework, making STEM learning more accessible, and positioning more students statewide for successful careers in Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics careers.
Holland Christian High was one of five Michigan schools recognized for the AP Computer Science A course, while Coopersville High was among 33 schools statewide recognized for the AP Computer Science Principles course.
The MiSTEM Advisory Council has provided over three million dollars annually in state grants to support STEM partnerships from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
