HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 8, 2024) – When Holland’s City Fiber becomes reality, customer rates will be in place.
During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Holland City Council unanimously approved a request from the Holland Board of Public Works to levy a basic service monthly fee of $45 for two-gig download capability, and $125 a month for 10-gig capability.
BPW General Manager Dave Koster went over the proposal with council members during a work-study session two weeks ago.
Mayor Nathan Bocks spoke for his council colleagues in saying that Internet access is essential.
Current installation work on expanding the current fiber optic network in the downtown district and in the Kollen Park vicinity should be finished before the Tulip Time Festival begins on May 4th, with an overall target completion date for the entire city of spring in 2026.
In addition, a proposal on first reading to rezone the southeast corner of US-31 and Lincoln Avenue from manufactured housing to corridor mixed use in order that a convenience store/fueling station can be built on what is now a vacant site adjacent to the Lincoln Estates mobile home park was withdrawn prior to the start of the council meeting.
