In 1981, Dan married the love and joy of his life, Karen, on Valentine’s Day. They were soul mates, best friends and always together; they were inseparable. Together, they created many beautiful and precious memories living each day to its fullest. They were deeply in love throughout their entire marriage. They enjoyed frequent day trips and long Sunday drives along the Lake Michigan shoreline or in the countryside. They always looked forward to their annual fall trips to the Upper Peninsula, and their favorite magical place to visit was Mackinac Island. They loved traveling to visit their three children and seven grandchildren; Dan was so proud of each of them. He cherished spending time with his family who were everything to him and brought him so much joy.
Dan graduated from Muskegon High School. He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years and attended Officer’s Training School becoming a Second Lieutenant. He graduated from Ferris State University in 1966 with a degree in Business. Dan spent most of his career as an Industrial Engineer at Life Savers, Inc. in Holland where he retired after 25 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting, fishing and going to the beach. In recent years he loved driving and listening to his favorite piano music.
Dan will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his beloved wife and best friend of 42 years, Karen Ferrell; daughters, Michelle (Andy) Rogers of MA and Julie (Dean) Pala of GA; grandchildren, Logan Ferrell, Trent (Arden) Ferrell, Isabelle Ferrell, Tayler Rogers, Zach Rogers, Sarah Pala and Grant Pala; sisters, Patricia (Don) Sima of NC and Ginny (Jim) Doubles of VA; sister-in-law, Rita Stone of TN; brother-in-law Eddy Schipper of UT; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dan was reunited in heaven with loved ones that preceded him in death; his dear son, Daniel Patrick Ferrell; parents, Daniel and Eleanor Ferrell of Muskegon; and parents-in-law, Earl and Eleanor Schipper of Hamilton.
