HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 17, 2024) – The Holland City Council has a business meeting slated for Wednesday evening.
Among the items on the agenda are public hearings and roll call votes for approval of a five-year Parks and Recreation Master Plan, as well as a change in the operational contractual oversight of the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place so that it is under the auspices of the City Manager, which is in line with all other pacts the city has with outside contractors, instead of with the Civic Center Place Board in this case.
Council will also be asked to approve a grant application to the state Department of Transportation for a $12.2 million improvement to roadways surrounding the proposed expansion of LG Energy Solutions Michigan’s battery manufacturing facility in the city’s southeast corner. Under terms of the grant, if it is approved, the city would be responsible for a 20 percent match, around $2.4 million, but Community and Neighborhood Services Director Mark Meyers says that company officials have committed to fund that local match on behalf of the city.
In a personnel move, Council is expected to approve the recommended appointment of Brenda Katerberg to become the new City Clerk, replacing Kathy Grimm, who is stepping down at month’s end. Katerberg has been associated with the clerk’s office for over 27 years, including being the Elections and Records Management Coordinator. Grimm has been the clerk for nearly five years.
The 6 PM Holland City Council meeting is in Chambers at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.). A link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
