Let me step away from the news desk and the microphone for a moment.
Although this is Christmas and not Thanksgiving, this is still a good time to say thank you to all of you who listen to 99 7/1450 WHTC, and/or who follow us online at whtc.com. I can also speak to those of you who may be seeing this on 927thevan.com, our companion station along the Lakeshore.
This has been a year – 2023 – like any other year. Yes, to some of you, if may seem as if the values and beliefs we grew up with are different now than it was when we were younger. In the effort to become a more “inclusive” society, we have instead become more intolerant of those whose values and beliefs don’t match our own. However, the same issues we may bring up now are no different than the ones brought up in decades past, and so, this year is really no different than any other.
We have changed, and if there is anything human nature doesn’t like, it’s change. Some of you might stump for change, thinking that it will be for the better, but when it does come, it’s not as what we expected, and we become resentful, bitter, disenchanted.
The only way we can rise above how life is today … is to look beyond these days, to when we will all “exit, stage right.” For some of us, that day may be looming larger and larger, and for others, that day might come suddenly, when we least expect it. By putting life here and now in that perspective, we can take things in stride and not get caught up in the controversies and disputes of today.
For me, I have put my faith and trust in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and I am assured of what lies ahead after I pass through the portal of death. Many of you have that same assurance, while others may still be searching. I pray that more and more of you will stop, listen and learn in 2024, while you still can.
Again, thanks for listening and following us this past year, and we hope we can continue to serve you honestly and fairly in 2024. Merry Christmas!
