OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 16, 2023) – A 53-year-old Zeeland man is expected to recover after being hit by a pick up following a crash in West Olive on Saturday evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Eric DeBoer, the unnamed man had apparently been involved in a single-vehicle crash on 120th Avenue south of Port Sheldon Street when, just before 6 PM, he stepped out of his vehicle and into the path of the truck, that was driven by a 64-year-old man from Hudsonville. The motorist-turned-pedestrian was taken by AMR Ambulance to an undisclosed “local hospital” for treatment of injuries that DeBoer said were not believed to be life-threatening, while the pick up driver was not hurt.
The sergeant added that 120th Avenue was closed for a short time as a result of the incident, which remains under investigation. Anyone with any information on the matter is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
