Claire H. Maras, age 101, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023.
Claire was a devout Catholic. Her strong faith in God guided her throughout her life. She was a long-term resident of Hamtramck, Michigan.
She was born to Henry and Jennie (Kowalski) Urbanik in Akron, Ohio on December 21, 1921.
Claire was preceded in death by her husband the Honorable Judge Rudolph L. Maras, daughter Debby Maras, son Lawrence Maras, her younger siblings Henry (June) Urbanik, Raymond (Theresa) Urbanik, Dolores (Stanley) Gruszkowski and Gerald Urbanik.
She is survived by her daughters: Donna Maras and Karen (Sam) Maras Segvich; grandchildren: Blake Segvich and Brent Segvich; family pets: Muffy, Spanky, and Charlie; nieces and nephews: Gary (Julia) Gruszkowski, Brenda Gruszkowski, and Cynthia Urbanik; grandnephew: Griffin Gruszkowski; close family member: Adele Wojtkowski.
A funeral mass will be 11:00 am, Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 100 St. Peter Drive, Douglas, MI 49406. Father Evelio Ramirez will be officiating. Burial will be in Riverside-Saugatuck cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers: Donate to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Claire H. Maras. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Saugatuck Chapel.
