GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 5, 2023) – There will be a contested Republican primary election next August for the party’s nomination in the Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney race.
On Tuesday, the Ottawa County Republican Party announced the candidacy of Greg Todd to replace the retiring Lee Fisher. Todd has been a private litigation attorney for 17 years in Grand Haven; was a police officer at one time, and continues to serve as a volunteer firefighter and first responder.
When Fisher announced in October his intention to not seek a second four-year term, the county’s Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Sarah Matwiejczyk, threw her hat into the ring to succeed him. She immediately received the endorsement of Fisher, former County Prosecutor Ron Frantz, and County Sheriff Steve Kempker, but no statement from the county GOP was made on her candidacy at the time.
Fisher had run unopposed in the 2020 primary and general elections to replace Frantz, who had retired after three decades as county prosecutor.
